KPR Next Generation Recruitment Partner
John Marshall is the General Manager of Keystone Project Recruitment (KPR).
John Marshall is a highly skilled manager and recruitment professional, with over 34 years’ experience in the mining, minerals and petrochemical industries. After matriculating from Krugersdorp High School and completing 2 years in the South African Defence Force, John pursued his passion for architecture by working as an Architectural Draughtsman. He joined De Beers in Kimberley in 1982 and spent the following 3 years training in basic drawing at the De Beers Training Centre. At the same time, he studied at the Technical College and earned a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
In 1986, John elected to venture out on his own, and spent the following decade providing specialist design draughting services to many of South Africa’s premier mining and engineering corporations, including DRA, Hatch, Batemans, Anglo American, LTA and Fluor. These were highly informative years, and John developed an astute understanding of the skills and abilities being sought out in these industries, specifically in identifying and recruiting talented, job-specific personnel. His thorough grasp of the industry led to his entering the technical recruitment sector.
Over the subsequent 6 years, John established an enviable track record, and his consulting services were sought out by several technical recruitment agencies, where he consistently oversaw substantial business growth. During this time, he also found time to further his tertiary education, earning a Diploma in Business Management.
In 2003, John was appointed as a Senior Consultant with Keystone Project Recruitment (KPR), where he has been instrumental in establishing the company as one of South Africa’s foremost technical recruitment agencies, growing the business from a complement of 35 candidates in 2003 to 570 by 2009. His significant contribution to the company’s success was recognised in 2012, when he was appointed as General Manager at KPR. He continues to work in the dual capacities of General Manager and Senior Recruitment Consultant at KPR at present.
John derives enormous satisfaction from sourcing top candidates and witnessing them excel in their appointed roles to become asset to his clients. His sterling reputation is built on understanding his clients’ needs and sourcing the best talent to meet their expectations.
Throughout his career, John has enjoyed the mentorship of able and successful colleagues, and this has informed his passion for building solid and committed long-term relationships with clients, colleagues and candidates alike. At the time of his joining KPR, a young woman named Zenobia Essop started at the company on the same day. They quickly established a keen and intuitive working relationship that continues to this day. Zenobia is now the Financial Director of KPR. Their shared success is indicative of John’s commitment to the ethos that solid relationships build solid businesses.
